DHANGADHI, April 19, 2026 Two brothers have died in the Kailali district after falling ill from consuming the meat of a dead broiler chicken. The deceased, identified as 8-year-old Bhim Tamrakar and 5-year-old Deepak Tamrakar of Chure Rural Municipality-3, Bhaktapur, passed away on Friday during treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital.
The family of four had consumed the toxic meat on Thursday, which was reportedly purchased from the local Bikas Poultry Farm. Following the meal, all family members fell severely ill. The victims' 28-year-old mother, Radhika Tamrakar, and her youngest son, 3-year-old Dipesh Tamrakar, are currently battling for their lives at the same provincial hospital.
According to Police Inspector Kailash Bishta, the authorities were only informed of the incident on Friday, after which they coordinated the immediate transport of the victims to Dhangadhi for emergency care. The poultry farm owner, Mangal Saud, surrendered to the Area Police Office in Malakheti and has been released into his relatives' custody with the condition to appear as required for the ongoing investigation.
