Dr. Arjun Kumar Khadka has officially taken charge as the Secretary of the Karnali Province Assembly Secretariat. Speaker Nanda Gurung appointed Khadka to the post on Tuesday and administered the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday. The position had fallen vacant after the previous secretary, Jibaraj Budhathoki, resigned following a controversy regarding dual benefits.
A permanent resident of Okhaldhunga, Dr. Khadka is a former Joint Secretary of the Government of Nepal with over 40 years of experience in the legal and judicial sectors. He holds a PhD in Law and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the National University of Singapore. Khadka previously served as a Legal Joint Secretary at the Federal Parliament Secretariat for five years.
Dr. Khadka notably served as a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee during the formulation of the Constitution of Nepal. He also played a key role in facilitating the very first session of the Karnali Province Assembly back in 2017. His extensive expertise in law and parliamentary affairs is expected to significantly enhance the operational efficiency of the provincial assembly.
